About ZL & Co.
Our History
Founded in 2020, ZL & Co. is a salon and spa suite collective created by aunt and niece, Jennifer and Meghan. With Meghan working as a hairstylist and Jennifer operating a design business next door, the opportunity to collaborate felt both natural and meaningful.
In 2023, ZL & Co. expanded by taking over and remodeling Jennifer’s existing space. As Jennifer shifted her design work to allow for greater flexibility and travel, the business grew to include six spa suites—allowing ZL & Co. to further support independent beauty professionals in a thoughtfully designed environment.
In 2025, a period of reflection and brainstorming sparked the next evolution of ZL & Co.: the addition of a plant boutique. While it may seem like a departure, it is a natural extension of our long-standing commitment to growth, creativity, and wellbeing. ZL & Co. not only sells plants—we propagate, grow, and create one-of-a-kind plantings using antique, vintage, and new vessels. Plants are woven throughout the space to enhance its aesthetic while supporting a sense of balance, calm, and connection to nature for both clients and professionals.
ZL & Co. was born from the desire to create a positive, professional environment where independent stylists can enjoy the freedom of running their own businesses within a supportive, well-designed setting. From the beginning, our focus has been on cultivating a space that feels elevated yet welcoming—one that allows each professional to thrive on their own terms.
Our Name
ZL is named for Meghan’s daughters, Zoee and Lilly, and reflects the heart behind the business: family, legacy, and the intention to create spaces that nurture both people and possibility. & Co. is the combination of all the amazing professionals who share this space and vision.
Our Location
Located at 7995 W. Fairview in Smart Plaza, ZL & Co. occupies a space that is both convenient and deeply meaningful. The plaza was built in the early 1970s by Jennifer and Meghan’s grandfather, Al Smart. Alongside their grandmother, Virginia, he was an entrepreneur who helped shape Boise through the development of commercial and residential spaces for more than three decades. That legacy of independence, creativity, and building something lasting continues at ZL & Co. today.
